Happy Jack/Pole Mt

This area includes the groomed ski trails at the Happy Jack Recreation Area, the user-packed trails in that area, and also the Veedauwoo, Blair, and other routes within the Medicine Bow National Forest.  The grooming is all thanks to the Medicine Bow Nordic Association.

Note about dogs: Dogs need to be on leash in the Tie City parking lot and through Campground Loop. No matter where you’re skiing, pick up after your dog – skis do not slide on dog poop very well.

Groomed Ski Trails: No report

Multi-use Trails – 1/21/23 from Rich Vincent: Good base and snow. Snow dog packed Snow Day (Snowshoe Trail), Headquaters, Haunted Forest, and Pole Creek on 1/21 in the PM, considerable usage immediately after packing. Black Ice, Dilly Dally & Black Jack are all well packed by snowshoes & skis, very decent fat biking conditions. Middle Aspen and Aspen well tracked, although Middle is in better shape to descend on a fat bike. Crow Creek skiable, fat biking is questionable (no bike tracks noted during 1/20 ski), expect slogging and post-holing (please be considerate of other users).

The user-packed routes are targeted for multi-use and welcome everyone: snowshoers, skiers, snowbikers and whomever.
